Every SaaS landing page now looks the same. Dark hero, purple gradient, three-step diagram, a wall of logos, a longer paragraph that says what the shorter one already said. So I built the product that makes it official. Commodity AI, live at commodity.gtmascode.dev, benchmarks your business against the entire market and then methodically converges your design, your messaging, and your roadmap toward the statistical mean. Enterprise-grade conformity, delivered at scale.
It is a satire, and like the best satire it is built with complete commitment to the bit. It also closes out this run of side projects, after the crossword solver, the startup sim, and the robot mask brand.

Committed to the bit
Every element on the page is the average of the pages you have already seen, pushed one degree further:
- The badge reads "Series Same, backed by the usual investors."
- The CTA is "Get the Average." No credit card required. No differentiation provided.
- The logo wall is sixteen entries of "Your Competitor," which is indistinguishable from most real logo walls if you squint.
- The flagship feature, Total Convergence™, detects any outlier, any spark of originality, and gently corrects it back to baseline.
- The cookie banner offers one button: "Accept (same as decline)." Your preferences will match theirs.
- The copy narrates its own bloat: "Yes, this is more text to explain the same thing. Longer pages convert better, so everyone writes them. So do we."
The serious argument inside the joke
The satire works because the convergence is real, and AI is accelerating it. When every team prompts similar models with similar briefs against similar competitor research, the outputs regress to the mean by construction. The average landing page is now trivially cheap to produce, which means the average landing page is now worth approximately nothing.
That inverts what marketing effort should optimize for. In a world of infinite competent sameness, the scarce assets are:
- A point of view that a model would not volunteer on its own, because it is yours.
- Proof of work: running demos, honest numbers, and named opinions, which cannot be paraphrased into existence.
- Taste as a filter: the discipline to delete the section every other site has, rather than add the one they all added last quarter.
This is the same thesis that runs through my gtm as code series: treat marketing as a system you engineer deliberately, or the defaults will engineer it for you. Commodity AI is what the defaults look like when nobody intervenes.
An afternoon well spent
The site took one afternoon to build, which is itself part of the argument: the average is cheap now. A static page, a starfield, a gradient, and copy that describes its own template. Visitors read the whole page even though the whole page tells them it says nothing, and that is the uncomfortable proof.
If your next landing page draft could pass for a Commodity AI feature card, visit the mean and see where the road ends. Then go write the sentence only your company would dare to publish.
